Be open to learning new things.

There’s a moment in Disney’s Pocahontas where Pocahontas is singing to the explorer John Smith in an effort to raise awareness about her way of life.

She has this line that I’ve never forgotten.

You’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.

Be open to the fact that there may be information, that you don’t even know you don’t know.

We all hold forms of implicit bias or prejudice that impact the way we treat each other, but it is important to keep an open mind in order to learn from each other.

The quicker we learn about each other, the quicker we can turn sympathy and empathy into synergy.

Look at all the beautiful things we’ve made while divided.

Imagine how greater we could be if we worked together.
